TRANSPARENCY BOOKING

On his seventh and latest release Hi Hopes, Andrew Collberg has changed direction and created a sort of mix tape influenced album shuffling through different tastes and styles with a collage-like mindset working again alongside long time collaborator and producer Mikkel Mohr. Though Hi Hopes flows through different sonic landscapes ranging from melodic psychedelic pop to blown out electronica to calm instrumental soundtrack music, there’s still a common thread running through all of the tracks; the lyrics. Rather than hiding behind ambiguity, the lyrics are presented naked and transparent, while still remaining open to the listener's own interpretation. “I wanted to make something that reflected and captured my frustrations with what’s going on in the world at the moment. As a foreigner living in Europe, it feels a bit like you’re on the sidelines watching the US wreak havoc at home and around the world all while you’re living a double life somewhere else, still trying to make some kind of sense of it all and stay engaged. It doesn't make sense, but making some music or art about those feelings of utter frustration I think does.”
